When I update my Windows XP svpk2 through Microsoft Update I get redirected www.update.microsoft.com

Using Microsoft Update and it gets redirected to www.update.microsoft.com (I thought the format for the web was xxx.xxxxxxxx.xxx only 3 dots, not 4)

Does it get you to the sp2 update page? Remember it is Micro$oft so you can expect anything. Why did it take you so long to add sp2? Man that has been around for years and years and years.

I don't see a 4th dot.
The correct link is below. You are thinking of IP addresses which are formatted as xxx.xxx.xxx but website names don't reflect the same format. Names are easier to remember for humans and can be virtually any name not taken and not involve dot's at all (except the .com, .net, .org etc.). The browser reads the name of the registered address and converts it to an IP the computer can understand and resolve.
