WHY DOES INTERNET EXPLORER KEEP REDIRECTING Me?

your browser might have been 'hacked'.

WHY DOES INTERNET EXPLORER KEEP REDIRECTING Me?microsoft sql server

you probably have spyware redirectors, you need a spyware remover/cleaner, spybot is free, do a google or yahoo search and you can download, run it and correct problems.

WHY DOES INTERNET EXPLORER KEEP REDIRECTING Me?windows themes internet explorer

Several reasons why this can occur. Someone who uses that PC has gone to a site or changed the hompage settings or downloaded something thats automatically changed the settings.

Everytime someone visits a website or click on a link theres potential money being made. This means website owners will go to great lengths to make you or I.E. redirect to their sites

(it would've been helpful if you told us where you were being redirected to then we could've given more accurate advice)

On I.E. click on Tools / Internet Options / change the URL in the little address bar then click on Apply then OK. This should fix things for now.

However, If after rebooting I.E. redirects you back to that same site then "changes have been made by a virus to your registry" in which case the only way to get rid of it is:

-delete any toolbars you may have downloaded

-scan with a good anti-virus

-scan with a good adaware program

or as a last resort

-format your drive and reinstall windows - (Guaranteed to fix things, kills all viruses / trojans / worms / ads or popups, and restores everything back to default including speeds up windows a bit)

NOTE: Before downloading or useing any of the programs from the links below "make sure you know what you're deleting"
i wouldnt know but i would suggest getting mozilla firefox, its faster and has less bugs, go to www.mozilla.com to get it, and the best thing is its free

Spyware... thats it spyware...

heres an anti-spyware program I've used on all the computers I administrate.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirro...
Go to Cnet.com and download Ad-Aware and Spybot. Run them each. Sounds like you have spyware. One of these programs should erase it.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS is the file they would use to re-direct you.

oPEN IT - you should have ONE entry after the explaination

127.0.0.1

If the are others, delete them, then save the file.

THEN set it's properties to READ ONLY until you get the firewall programs.
Spyware has hijacked IE. Do a search for files and folders and type in "hosts" without the quotes. Under Look in: choose Browse...and search under C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc and open it with Wordpad. If you don't see the path go to My Computer and click Tools, then Folder Options, then click the View tab, then click Show hidden files and folders. Then try it again. It should look like this:

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.

#

# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.

#

# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each

# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should

# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.

# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one

# space.

#

# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual

# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

#

# For example:

#

# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server

# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

If it's got other junk in it you've definitely been hijacked. Only keep what's listed here. Save the file after deleting the other junk. Then right-click the file and choose Properties and check Read Only. You need a program like Hijack This to remove all the crap it installed on your computer as well as some good anti-spyware programs (like SpyBot S%26amp;D, Ad-Aware, Spysweeper, etc.) but it takes somebody who knows what they are doing, especially when using Hijack This.

Good luck!
